A Multisensor System for Remote Surveillance of a Motorway Overpass

A multisensor visual-based surveillance system for monitoring unattended motorway overpasses is presented. The aim of the system is to prevent vandalism actions on the Italian motorway network where some stone-throwing episodes happened, with the specific goal of targeting cars. The system can automatically detect, localize, track and classify multiple objects entering the controlled scene by selecting dangerous situations and advise a remote operator with an alarm signal. Results on visual images have been considered.
